Martin H. Mandelbaum, CPO,
President, Founder, Practitioner

Marty has been serving the Long Island Community with his dedication to improving patients' lives since the early 1980's. He received his bachelor's degree from New York University in 1979 and was certified by ABC in 1980 for Orthotics and in 1982 for Prosthetics. In the early 1980's, Marty was a staff clinical instructor at New York University Post Graduate Medical School for the Prosthetic and Orthotic Department and also volunteered in the Research Department to work with myoelectric and electric hybrid upper extremity prosthetic systems. Special areas of interest include myoelectric design and fabrication.  As director of our NCOPE Accredited Residency Program, Marty has been integral to its design and continues to implement new strategies and techniques while overseeing its day-to-day operation. Marty is currently involved with several hospital and physical therapy centers educating their physicians, interns and staff in all aspects of orthotic and prosthetic care.  Marty has served as Vice-President, President and Past President of the New York State Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, and is active in various support groups and committees.
Hobbies: Woodturning, kayaking, skiing and traveling with his family.

Marc Werner, CPO, Vice President, Practitioner
Marc received his associates degree in Computer Science in 1989 and his bachelor's degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics from New York
University in 1991 and was certified by ABC in 1993 for Prosthetics and in 1995 for Orthotics.   As practitioner-liaison to our new NCOPE Accredited Residency Program, Marc will serve as a mentor and practitioner-supervisor to residents.  Areas of special interest include lower extremity prosthetics, including prosthetic knee design.  Marc is certified in custom silicone designs and computerized prosthetic knees.  Marc is also active in educating physicians and therapists in all aspects of prosthetic and orthotic care.
“I got into the field by way of a volley ball accident in high school; afterwards I had been fit with a custom knee orthosis.  When I was going to college for computer science I would stop by the shop to see how the prosthetics were made.  I was told since I was so interested I should apply to New York University, which I did.  Most of my computer science credits did not apply to the P&O field so I was literally the last graduate from the NYU program, after completing summer school.  I have been with MHMO&P since 1991.”
Areas of interest: Lower Limb Amputees, TBI Patients, Pediatrics to Geriatric Orthotics.
I am currently on staff @ most hospitals in Suffolk County and go to many Skilled Nursing Facilities in Nassau and Suffolk Counties on a weekly basis.
Hobbies: skiing, roller blading, soft ball, computers and spending time with his family.
Favorite Teams: Yankees, NY Giants and Knicks.

Stephen Mullins, CO, Practitioner
Stephen earned his bachelor of Science degree from SUNY at Cortland in 1991.  He managed a 20 bed Intermediate Health Care Facility for mentally retarded adults from 1992-1994 where his interest in orthotics developed from the physical needs of his residents.  He has been with M. H. Mandelbaum O&P since 1995 and received his ABC certification in 1998.  Steve has taken many advanced courses in pediatric and spinal bracing and enjoys specializing in both areas.  In 2000 he was one of the first practitioners certified in the Spine-Cor dynamic scoliosis system in the U.S. and in 2005 his certification was updated to include the advanced software for evaluation and treatment.  Steve has staff privileges at St. Charles Hospital, Mather Memorial Hospital, Stony Brook University Hospital and Southside Hospital.
